GRIMACE 8/2/09

At the last Manchester Township board meeting the decision was made to allow ATV's on yet another road in our community. Of all places Fallhall road is the new "Test" area to see if there will be any problems generated by the mingling of ATV's with the local Auto, truck and foot traffic. To accommodate the pleasure of two residents on Fallhall Rd. The town council voted 2 to 1 to allowed them to create an "ATV Route" for 1 year on a trial basis. No criteria for the test was provided but when asked "What will the trial acomplish?" one council members answered "it's to find out if anyone gets killed, run over or hurt".

GRIN 4/19/09

Taxes are done, Seeds are in their starter beds, field work has begun and a little rain has cut the fire danger....all good reasons to have a smile on your face!

GRIMACE 3/23/09

This morning the rain has come and the snow has gone. Unfortunately this has brought on the first Grimace in 2009. Now we all get to see the garbage that inconsiderate people have strewn about our roadsides (you know who you are) From butts to fast food wrappers, it al builds up and creates nothing but an eyesore on our beautiful landscape. It is inconsiderate and dangerous not to use your ash tray (every vehicle has one) and to put your trash out there for someone else to pick up is pathetic. Taking your garbage home and disposing of it properly will save the caring people of our town who walk and travel our roads the heartache of a spoiled experience. Please show you care and don't litter!

To start I thought it should make you grin, maybe not from ear to ear but if it turns the corners of your mouth up a little we'll be happy. It is the small things here in Manchester Township that we can all be thankful for on a daily basis. We live in one of if not the most beautiful areas in the great state of Wisconsin, and the Country for that matter. Surrounded by the forests and all the wildlife in it you'd be hard pressed to go a day without an encounter of some sort with one of our co-inhabitants. Today for me it was particularly rewarding both audibly and visually. Many of us have been out in the woods or just in the back yard when we hear the semblance of rapid gun fire or what could be mistaken for the sound of a mad carpenter with some kind of automatic hammering device, only to hear it end and make us wonder. I was on my daily trek to the mail box when the sound caught my attention and I looked up with a Grin on my face and saw a Piliated Woodpecker.
